Brianne Kristina and her husband celebrated their 1st Wedding Anniversary this year on May 30. They now reside in a townhouse in downtown Portland, Oregon. Her husband works in computer technology and programming. He moved from India to the U.S. about nine years ago.

Brianne will be finishing her Ph.D dissertation for social work, Differential Parenting. She plans to be able to defend her Ph.D. before her 30th birthday on September 29, 2010, then plans to graduate from the doctorate program before the year ends.

Brianne and her husband joined us in Sandpoint, Idaho, over Independence Day to visit family and enjoy the 4th of July holiday.  They returned to Portland on June 5th, taking Keisha and Kianna with them.  Keisha and Kianna spent 2 weeks there for some special time.  They had lots of fun and spent some quality time bonding with their sisters and sisters-in-law. Keisha and Kianna did all sorts of fun things, such as hiking, soccer, camping, going to the library, listening to tapes, cooking, and art classes. Brianne and her husband are both vegetarians, so they introduced a lot of vegetarian cuisine to Keisha and Kianna, and they said that everything was very delicious.  We are sure glad to have them home safe and sound.

We hope to get over to Portland sometime this fall.

Brianne’s Trip to Washington, D.C.

Brianne Kristina (DOB 9/29) is our eldest daughter and full of beauty and grace.  She is our kind vegetarian, living in Portland with her husband.  She is currently working to complete her doctorate degree in social work.  After that she plans to work in the area of child abuse and neglect to help find possible solutions and intervention to prevent child maltreatment.

These photos were taken the weekend of June 5, 2010, in Washington, D.C., when Brianne was there for a conference.  She met up with her friend from W.S.U., Leslie Booren, and they went sightseeing together.

In front of the Iwo Jima Marine Corps memorial in Arlington, VA (next to Arlington Cemetery).

At Founding Farmers Restaurant in Washington, D.C. A great local restaurant that is all homemade, local, and partners with farmers.

At the George Mason memorial statue by the Jefferson Memorial.

At the Washington (W) Hotel in downtown Washington, D.C. That is the White House behind us from the side. You can see the back and front columns. Leslie says, "It is really hard to get to this rooftop hotel patio, I've been denied twice and was surprised when the bouncers let us up with flip flips. The drinks were about $30 each, but it was really really cool."

In front of the White House. Some people think this is the back, but in reality it is the front. All these people gather here, and there are cops everywhere. There are also protestors everywhere with signs and displays, and last week someone tar/feathered themselves against that fence.

In front of the National Cathedral, which is America's first church. It is non-denominational, and where every president goes. It has all kinds of famous history. We toured it, and went to a service in one of the beautiful basement chapels.

This is on the Roosevelt Island in the middle of the Potomac River between Washington, DC and VA. It is a national park and had beautiful trails throughout the island.

This is on the bridge to go hiking on Roosevelt Island. That is part of the Potomac river, with Georgetown in the background. We went into Georgetown later to get pedicures, shop, and eat some really weird Chinese food.

Us at a restaurant. Nothing fancy, just trying to take a photo during every outfit change. This was right after Leslie picked me up from the conference.
