SCBWI Regional Conference Coming Up
Registration is open for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Regional Conference. Our “region” includes the Inland Northwest and I (Karen) am a presenter! Early bird registration (members only) is open from May 1-June 15 and the cost is $85. After June 15, member registration is $95. Members will pay $110 at the door and visitors will pay $10 more.
Our featured speakers are Kate Sullivan (editor, Little Brown), Kendra Marcus (agent, Bookstop Literary), Teri Sloat (author/illustrator) and Deb Lund (picture book author). The conference will be September 18, 2010 from 10 AM to 5 PM. Don’t delay! Seats will fill up fast.

Bloomsday!
Less than 48 hours and the first of the runners will make their way along the course. Starting downtown, racing through the historic West Central Neighborhood, and of course, Doomsday Hill. Let’s have a look at this great race that brings so many diverse people to our city.

Length: 12 Km (7.46 mi.)
Course: Road course through Spokane, WA
Date: Sunday, May 2nd, 2010
Runners: Approximately 50,000.
Elite Division Racers: 32 Male, 19 Female
Wheelchair Elites: 37 Male, 11 Female
The Annual Lilac Bloomsday Run is held on the first Sunday in May in Spokane. In addition to the elite division, there are other divisions of runners, joggers, walkers, and strollers. The weather for this year’s race forecasts rain in the afternoon but the bulk of the racers should stay dry. Get out there and cheer them on!
